Andy Weir's Egg Theory
Are We All One?
But... have you ever considered that perhaps we are a single entity, constantly evolving? That we are not individual beings that are part of a system, but rather the system in its entirety, fragmented by our own will to give rise to a unique, complex, and wise being, who understands both its origin and its destiny?
"Kurzgesagt – In a Nutshell" is a YouTube channel translated into several languages, each with its own channel. If you're interested in understanding diverse topics—scientific, technological, political, philosophical, and others—we recommend it.
In his video titled "The Egg - A Short Story," "Kurzgesagt – In a Nutshell" creatively reinterprets Andy Weir's Egg Theory, which posits that perhaps we, as a human species, are not individual beings living our own lives, but rather a single entity divided into smaller parts, branching consciousnesses sent to fulfill a single mission: to live and learn. This knowledge, once acquired, returns to the source, the developing egg, independent of concepts like time. Today we may experience what we call "the present," but tomorrow we could be living the past or the future; there are no timelines, only a coexistence of time and space that we probably don't yet fully understand.
He shows us how, day after day, we coexist with ourselves, seeking happiness or even disrespecting ourselves. Each of us lives our own life, with its ups and downs and dilemmas to resolve, believing ourselves unique, seeing ourselves reflected in others with our flaws or virtues, without understanding that the person we see is also a being experiencing their own existence. But that, at the end of this stage, the knowledge acquired will unify to form a single being; like when a hen lays an egg: it must go through a process, absorb nutrients, and develop inside the shell so that, once ready, it can break and emerge completely new.
So, once we free ourselves from the shell, what comes next, once we have formed ourselves as individual beings? What will our purpose be? Will there be something even greater of which we will continue to be a part?
